As you may have noticed there are literally hundreds of Linux distributions out there. It is even relatively easy to make your own. I have gone through many in my 8 years using Linux. During my first several months using Linux, I must have plowed through 12. Ubuntu is the Desktop and Server Linux I prefer currently. They (as a community) have committed to making an easy to use, and understand Linux distribution, without sacrificing features or power.
